Obituary of Faye Hayes Gilgo

Faye Hayes Gilgo Our wife (Honey), Mom and Mommy Faye may now rest and watch over us without suffering. Faye was born October 15, 1933, the only daughter of two children (brother-Sammy Hayes) to Abner Peace and Vasti Huff Hayes. She met and married this amazingly smart and patient man, Horace Paul Gilgo on April 4, 1959 and have spent over 58 devoted years together. Mom and Dad had two children, but you might as well say they had four in the end…son, Paul (Gila) who died in 2004 leaving us all heartbroken; Vickey Lewis and husband (son) Ron; Kelly Gilgo-Glick and husband Michael. Mommy Faye left a legacy of love and support to 4 grandchildren who will always adore and respect her…Nicholas (Nick) Lewis and wife Kim; Drew, Grace and Evan Gilgo. She also proudly watched and enjoyed the young lives of two great grandchildren-Heidi and Tucker Lewis. Her devoted granddog, Kate will miss hugging against her and “furring her up”. We, as Faye’s husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren can only scratch the surface to tell you what an independent, strong, compassionate and loving woman we’ve had the honor of living some part of our lives with over her 84 years. Faye’s strength and commitment was reflected in her successful professional life which concluded after many years as the events planner for the Sawtooth Center in Winston-Salem. We invite you to join in celebrating Faye’s life on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 12:30pm in the sanctuary of Love’s United Methodist Church, 3020 Main Street, Walkertown, NC 27051. The time for family and friend visitation will continue in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. To acknowledge Faye’s strength in life and death, you may make a donation to Love’s United Methodist Church, 3020 Main Street, Walkertown, NC 27051 or an organization that you believe embodies Faye’s strength and life. We wish to thank many individuals from the community and church for the love and support provided to Faye and Paul, particularly over the past few trying years. We wish to acknowledge the CNAs and support team from Bayada Home Health, Melinda Bullins and Dr. Mary Lyles (our rock for many years). Finally thank you to the Forsyth County EMS paramedics and Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Emergency Department care team for providing thoughtful and compassionate care on February 5, 2018.
