I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I went to middle and high school with Jim. We called him Jim Bob. I remember he had a great sense of humor and was always fun to hang around with.

Nothing we say will ever tell the true story of our relationship with Jim. He represented his profession with a dedicted service to all he came in contact with. After our move from Greensboro Jim was always there to assist and guide when it involved money matters, sports and especially golf. He was more than a financial advisor he was a true friend that we will miss greatly.May God make his voice be heard to say " I welcome you home Jim Barber"Patricai & Rhett Roman -Pawleys Island, SC

Cathy- Wow, they lives you and Jim have touched... in a positive and uplifting way. I celebrate Jim's life and am grateful our paths crossed starting in 1989. After us upstart Va offices broke off into a new region (1991 or 1992), I did not see Jim as often. However, we had a number Ryder cup matches and a surprising number due-dilligence trips we shared. Believe the last one was a Van Kampen meeting in Houston -fall of 2008- heavy rain on Saturday. Jim's passion stood out in everything he did. Cathy, can only imagine how you must miss Jim... My prayer is that your faith and your God comfort you now and for the length of time until you are united in His eternal kingdom. I have been sighing and taking deep breaths all day... and certainly now. While I celebrate Jim's life, I am saddened deeply over Jim's early departure from this life. Sincerely, Rick Laird

Jim was a fun loving guy who packed all he could into his life. He could take as well as deliver good natured joking with friends. He will be missed by his fellow financial advisors at Edward Jones as surely as he will be missed by his clients.

25 years ago I met a man named Jim, his lovely wife Cathy, and his two sons Chad and Cory. Jim and my father became good friends, and worked for the same company. We all became friends over the years and have all had one thing in common, the love for Jim Barber. Jim was the ultimate Investment Representative for an awesome company, Edward Jones, and probably the main reason that my father has had a great career with the company. I personally have received all the updates regarding Jim from my family, and have prayed for him and his family through his hardships. I personally know that Jim lived live to the fullest, loved his family more than anything, and loved his life just as much. I am honored to have known a man with such zest for life, love for his family, and dedication to what he believed in. I thank God for the friendship he gave my father and the love he had for life. I hope everyone could have half of the love for family and life that Jim had. I hope that everyone will change their life and be more like Jim.
