Obituary of Charles Kinney

Kernersville-Charles Lee Kinney went home to be with his Lord April 29, 2011. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 3:30PM Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church with Pastor Keith Speaks officiating. Inurnment will be at Mt. Gur Cemetery. He was born June 17, 1936 in Davidson County to the late Rev. Horace Vestal Kinney and Selby Camille Cope Kinney. Charles was a member, and elder, of Fountain of Life Lutheran Church. He was a man of strong faith. He was an accomplished artist, particularly oil paintings, which he displayed proudly. He enjoyed golf and traveling with his family. He taught Sunday School for a number of years. Charles wanted God to be glorified regardless of the outcome of his illness. Survivors include his wife Kay Moreschi Kinney of Kernersville; daughters Laura Kinney McIntosh and Phil of Winston-Salem, Emily Kinney Haynes and Richard of Clemmons, and Kathryn Kinney Culbertson and Chad of Kernersville; grandchildren Jordan Leigh McIntosh, Zachary Phillip McIntosh, Christopher Charles Haynes, Matthew Kent Haynes, Emily Kathryn Murdaugh, and Amber Nicole Murdaugh; step-children Christina Kay Westbrook of Greensboro and John Hardy Westbrook of Raleigh; sister Karen Kinney Carraway and Ken of Greenville, NC; brother David Kinney of Elizabeth City, NC. The family will visit with friends just prior to, and immediately following, the service at the church on Sunday.
