Gray, Hannah, and Jake: I am so personally touched by your loss. Myra touched so many lives, including mine, in such a positive and unselfish way. My life is richer for having known such a loving, selfless, and genuine young woman. She exhibited such unique and wonderful qualities, at such a young age, that it was apparent she was destined for a life dedicated to family, and improving the lives of others. She will be sorely missed. Gray, you and Myra have instilled all of those wonderful qualities in Hannah and Jake. Our children add a touch of immortality to our memory!

To Gray, Jake and Hannah,
The cancer didn't win. It couldn't destroy Myra's faith, her love of God, her hope, her prayer life, her love for you, her ability to bless others or her impact. Cancer could not take anything eternal from her. Myra has won and she has overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of her testimony. Her absence will be painful for all of us but take comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of the One who kept all of his promises to her. May Grace abound toward each of you. Harold and Diane Smith

My thought and prayers are with you all at this time. I know what it is like to lose a parent and I know what it is like to lose a beloved mentor in my church's leadership. Myra encouraged me at an AG Core Group meeting when my eldest daughter went off to bible college. She shared a fond memory of Hannah having surgery when she was in college and how they read together in the hospital bed. She is an incredible woman and I am sorry for your loss.

I kept up with the journey through the blog and I could sense your family's pain through the words. Now she is free from all pain. While that's comforting, I know your hearts are heavy with angst. What a legacy she left and I'm sure God has paid her the ultimate compliment of, "Well done my good and faithful servant." I'll continue to lift your family up in prayer for God to sustain you during the times when it seems too much to bear.

I look forward to seeing Myra again and until that time comes she is among "The Great Cloud of Witnesses" who are watching us carry on the work of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I miss you being here Myra but I know, that I know, you are with the One you love the most.
Greatly missed but truly blessed.

My prayers are out for Gray and the family. I lost touch with Myra and Gray after high school, but my memories of that time with them are fond memories. Summers at Midway pool, Cheerleading and football games, our Senior year together. It was truly a great pleasure to hear that Myra became a Pastor and that she was able to see her daughter start her own family. I know that she is now in the presence of God and there is no more pain. May the Lord continue to watch over Myra's family in their time of loss, but may he also help them to celebrate her life.

Dear Gray, Jake, Hannah and Nate, our hearts break as does yours at the loss of your wife, and mother and friend. I pray that God's loving touch will be felt by you all. Myra truly was and is a beautiful woman who followed Gods calling. She performed faithfully and to her utmost capability. She is now with her Father in Heaven and rejoicing at knowing you will see her again someday. I pray that you will rest and know that you are now the ones to carry on this beautiful woman's mission. Remember what our Lord said in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart." "Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4
We love you Gray, Jake and Hannah; and I know that you are a fine young man Nate and look forward to seeing in the near future. having just gone through this just 2 short months ago; my heart aches for Gray, Hannah and Jake. To loose a wife/best friend after all these years leaves a emptiness in your heart that only God can fill. To loose a mother when we are so young and still continue to need guidance is unbearable. I gather strength from our Lord who somehow guides us through when it seems so dark. I love you all and you are definately in my prayers at this time! April Markham Cooke

Mere words can't express how the Lord used Myra in my life over 6 years ago at Winston-Salem First Assembly. I know she has impacted many. I believe Myra would say these words from Ps. 16...
5 Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing.
You guard all that is mine.
6 The land you have given me is a pleasant land.
What a wonderful inheritance!
7 I will bless the Lord who guides me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I know the Lord is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
9 No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice.[b]
My body rests in safety.
10 For you will not leave my soul among the dead[c]
or allow your holy one[d] to rot in the grave.
11 You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of your presence
and the pleasures of living with you forever.[e]

Myra's gift to me was she taught me how to worship not just with reading words but with my whole being, through Myra I was able to let go of my "religious chains" and find it was ok to dance ok to lift my hands, ok to shed my tears, forever I will be grateful for that Freedom I found in Christ because of Myra, and for the influence she had on my children the encouragement she gave the everlasting impact she has made on all of our lives. Thank you Gray, Jake and Hannah for sharing Myra with us. May the peace of God that passes all understanding cover you all.
