Obituary of Harold Umfleet

Harold Franklin 'Frank' Umfleet, Sr. Harold 'Frank' Umfleet has passed away after his long battle of cancer on July 22, 2010. He was born December 20, 1944 in Greensboro and raised in Missouri by his parents Harold G. and Ola E. Umfleet. Mr. Umfleet served in the US Army and was a Viet Nam Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW. He worked at Guilford Mills and Sara Lee. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golfing and softball. He also loved visiting his residents at Friends Homes at Guilford and helping them out at bingo. He liked anything that had to do with the Viet Nam Wall and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Judith 'Bobbie' Ann Umfleet; sons, Brian Richard Creager of Valparaiso, IN; Gary D. Umfleet of VA, Ronald J. Umfleet of Greensboro, Harold F. Umfleet, Jr. and Kevin M. Umfleet. Other survivors are his father, Harold G. Umfleet of Greensboro, brother, Harry J. Umfleet (Ann) of Greensboro and sister, Elaine Grimes (Dennie) of Farmington, MO. Two step-daughters, Sharyl L. Pierce of Lake Station, IN and Sandra M. Creager of Greensboro, and mother-in-law, Thelma L. Ashbaugh of Valparaiso, IN. Grandchildren, Kayla M. Sherlock of Valparaiso, IN; Brian J. Creager, Jr. of Valparaiso, IN and A. J. Creager of Lake Station, IN. Mr. Umfleet was preceded in death by his mother, Ola Umfleet and his sister, Juanita Harpster. The family requested that any memorials be sent to the Viet Nam Wall Memorial Fund, Disabled Veterans National Foundation, 1634 Eye Street, NW. Suite 750, Washington, DC 20006, or Cancer Research Institute, 1759 R Street, NW. Washington, DC 20009 or to your choice of charity. There will be a memorial scheduled at a later date. Lambeth-Troxler are assisting the family with the loss of Mr. Umfleet.
