Obituary of Jimmy Matthews

Mr. Jimmy D. Matthews, 64, of Gibsonville, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, at Stevens Memorial Baptist Church, in Greensboro, with the Reverend Dennis Tabor officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. Mr. Matthews was born September 14, 1946, to Victor and Frances Oakley Matthews. He was a member of Stevens Memorial Baptist Church and a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Darlene Matthews Mr. Matthews is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Shaw Matthews; daughters, Renea Lewis (Barry) of Haw River, Lisa Crowder (John) of Danville, VA, and Kimberly Jenkins (Chris) of Burlington; son, Jimmy D. Matthews Jr. (Samantha) of High Point; sisters, Shirley Taylor, Hazel Dean, Barbara Babb (Stephen) and Ann Causey; brother, Buddy Matthews; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
