Obituary of Mabelene Mobley

Mabelene Johnson Mobley passed away at Wesley Long Hospital on Monday, November 22, 2010 after several weeks of declining health. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Mobley, son Jeffrey Alan Mobley, parents Robert and Mary Jane Johnson, and sister Lois McGee. She is survived by son Byron and daughter-in-law Mary of Richmond, Virginia; daughter Melanie Landacre; grandchildren Will and Kathryn Landacre and Justin and Emily Mobley all of Greensboro. Also surviving are sisters Bobbie Reddick of Liberty and Sue Lewey along with husband Bill of Hartwell, Georgia; one brother Robert Johnson and his wife Larky of Greensboro. Mabelene graduated from Bessemer School and attended UNC-Greensboro before beginning a career at Cone Mills Corporation that lasted 47 years. While at Cone, she was executive secretary to Chairman of the Board and Treasurer. She was also active in American Business Women's Association for many years and a member of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 1 pm. Funeral at the church will begin at 2 pm and interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, 4800 W. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27410 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, NC 27405.
