Obituary of Leola Christopher

Mrs. Leola Christopher, 92 of Greensboro passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greensville, NC. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Christ Wesleyan Church, 2400 S Holden Road, Greensboro, NC with Reverend Jonathon Lewis officiating. A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Christopher was born June 25, 1918, in Chatham County, NC, the first child of William Ernest Johnson and Nannie Delora Boggs Johnson. She graduated from Silk Hope School in 1935 and that same year went to work for Blue Bell in Greensboro, NC, remaining with that company for over 50 years. Leola was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husband Ray Wilson Christopher and siblings Elizabeth Gibson, Robena Moore, J.B. Johnson, and Levada Costner. Survivors include her daughter Deloras Barwick (Boyce), of Ayden, NC, her son Phil Christopher (Cathy) of Greensboro; grandchildren; Cindi Wade, Terry Herndon, 2nd Lt. Shannon Christopher, Carmen Christopher-Caviness (Tim), Jaclyn Moore, and Parker Moore; great-grandchildren; Jordan Mitchell and Taylor Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Wesleyan Church of which Leola was a member for over 60 years.
