Obituary of Dorothy Prontaut

Mrs. Dorothy Holt Prontaut, wife of Lloyd Charles Prontaut Sr. for over 61 years, entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Wesley Long Hospital. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, December 12th, at Westminster Gardens 3601 Whitehurst Road, Greensboro, with the Reverend Don Clement officiating. Mrs. Prontaut has been a resident of Greensboro since 1968. She was a long standing member of Centenary United Methodist Church on Friendly Avenue. She worked for the NC Easter Seal Society doing secretarial work and assisting with the handicapped for many years. She also worked for the NC Department of Social Services in her later years. She enjoyed being around people and always spoke highly of her fellow coworkers many years after her retirement. Mrs. Prontaut was born to the late Lewis Leonard Holt and Annie Lillian Beavers on December 10th, 1922. She was a native of Vienna Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James Leonard Holt and Loys Eugene Holt of Vienna, Georgia. She was a loving mother of three children, Lloyd Charles Prontaut Jr. (Terri), Susan Prontaut Groat, and Kenneth Leonard Prontaut (Cheryl). Other survivors include a sister, Kathleen Holt Johnson Southerland and her son Charles McLin Johnson Jr. (Kendra), all of Loganville, GA; sister-in-law, Ernestine Truluck Holt of Vienna, GA; grandchildren, Lloyd Charles Prontaut III (Aliyah), of High Point, Matthew Neal Prontaut (Sara Beth) of Reidsville, Richard Scott Groat (Elizabeth), of San Antonio TX, Robert Brian Groat (Demetra), of Greensboro, Christopher Lanier Groat, of Greensboro, Lauren Michelle Groat (Kevin), of Raleigh, Kenneth Leonard Prontaut Jr., of Reidsville, Chereefa Jade Murphy (William), of Reidsville; seven great-grandchildren, Blakely, Madison Grace, Brooklyn, Bryce, William, Allison, and Joseph Conner; in addition many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to thank the many friends and caregivers that made her last days more joyous.
