Obituary of Herman Amos

Mr. Herman Lloyd Amos, 87, formerly of Greensboro, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in Florida. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel, with the Reverend Dianne Marsden officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Mr. Amos was born January 10, 1923, to the late Lloyd C. and Isa Amos. He was the co owner of Amos Insurance Agency and served in the US Army in Europe during WW II. He was a life long member of Carraway United Methodist Church, taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir and served on the church board. He also worked with crisis control. Mr. Amos was a lifetime member of the American Legion, was a scout master, a member of the Civitan Club and Odd Fellows. He enjoyed trout fishing, was an avid golfer, an advanced bridge player, loved singing hymns and playing his harmonica. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife of 62 years, Rebecca Amos and son H. Ray Amos. Survivors include his daughters, Bonnie Amos, of Snow Camp, North Carolina and Barbara Sipe, of Port Orange, Florida; brother Fred Amos and wife Elaine, of Greensboro; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
