Obituary of Ava Smith

Greensboro Ava Thomas Smith, 'Polly,' 87, died peacefully in her own home surrounded by her family and friends, on January 12, 2011. Mrs. Smith was born in Chase City, VA to Ira Dewitt and Ethel Chapman Thomas. Mrs. Smith's Graveside Service will be at Westminster Gardens on Sunday, January 16 at 2 pm. The family will receive friends at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home on Saturday, from 7-9 pm. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Elmer Gerard Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Smith Morrow and husband Jim; 2 sons, Craig Gerard Smith and his wife Rebecca; Brian Scott Smith; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
