Obituary of Elsie Hunter

Mrs. Elsie D. Hunter, 87, of Greensboro, went home to her Lord and Savior, Sunday, February 13, 2011. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, with the Reverend W. Ray Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Mrs. Hunter was born September 6, 1923, to D. Hayes and Grace Gray Dennis. She served in the US Navy during WWII and was married to the late David R. Hunter. She retired from Vick's Manufacturing with over 22 years of service and was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church. She was a wonderful mother and Christian faith leader to her children, their spouses, and grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Tammy Hunter, Jon Hunter, and Nathan Prevost, a great-grandson, Caleb Ryan Hunter, and a sister Dorothy Helms. Mrs. Hunter is survived by her sons, Ronnie (Randy) Hunter and David (Kay) Hunter, all of McLeansville; daughters, Denise (Ron) Fisher of Martinsville, VA and Debbie (Bruce) McNamara, of Siler City; sisters, Viola Cline and Betty (Harold) Amos; a brother, Gene (Barbara) Dennis; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home.
