Obituary of Herbert Norris

Mr. Herbert G. Norris, 83, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday at Apple's Chapel Christian Church with the Reverend Allen Myers officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church and at other times at the home of Donna and Robert Chappell. Mr. Norris was born March 27, 1927, to the late Charles S. and Minnie Holleman Norris. He was married to the late Frances Kernodle Norris and retired from AMP after 35 years of service. He had a special talent and love of carving and woodworking. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers Hulan S. Norris and Jesse H. Norris. Mr. Norris is survived by his daughters, Donna Norris Chappell and husband Robert, of Gibsonville, Sandra Norris, of Greensboro; brother, Charles A. Norris and wife Alyse, of Spring Lake; special friends Jimmy Kapp, Lela Johnson, and Priscilla Allen and his very special dog 'Sassy'. Memorials may be made to Apple's Chapel Christian Church, 7345 NC Hwy 61N, Gibsonville, NC 27249 or the charity of the donor's choice.
