Obituary of Sadie Maness Carter

Mrs. Sadie Maness Carter, 96, of Greensboro, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Ashton Place. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Friday at Lakeview Memorial Park, with the Reverend Gene Lawhorne officiating. Mrs. Carter was born February 21, 1915, in Rockingham County to Banner and Gertrude S. Maness. She was married to the late Roy C. Carter Sr. She became a member of Eller Memorial Baptist Church as a teenager and was very active member for many years. She attended Buchanan Baptist Church. Mrs. Carter is survived by her daughter, Janice C. Odom and husband David, of Greensboro; son, Roy 'Chris' C. Carter Jr. and wife Linda, of McLeansville; grandsons, Michael A. Carter, Jeff L. Carter and wife Tara, all of Greensboro; great-grandson, Devin L. Carter, of Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home.
