Obituary of Kenneth Rich

Kenneth Edward Rich Kenneth E. Rich, lovingly called 'Pop or 'Pa-Pa' by many and the 'patriarch' of the Guilford County Branch of the Sampson County Beatty family, went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday May 15th, 2011. The celebration of his life will be held Thursday, May 19th, 2011 at 2:00pm at Rankin Baptist Church 3317 Summit Ave. Greensboro, NC. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial with military rites observed. A native of Sampson County, he was the son of James R. Rich and Joncie Lea Beatty Rich Grimes born on September 6, 1926. He graduated from Greensboro High School in 1943 and served proudly in the US Navy during World War II. He spent his working career as VP of Office Services at Southern Life Insurance Co. and after retirement, operated his own business, Northside Printing, with his wife Dorothy. Leaving to 'miss him greatly' are his wife of 64 years Dorothy Jordan Rich, two daughters, Pamela Rich Alberty and husband William and daughter Linda Rich Wheeler. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Katherine Cobb and husband John, Kristin Schumacher and husband Adam, Brian Alberty and wife Chelsea; Five great grandchildren and one on the way, John 'Trey' Cobb, Spencer Cobb, Mia Caitlyn Alberty, Christian Alberty and Ashton Alberty, and the one on the way- 'Peanut' for now. He is also survived by a special and very loved nephew Clay Redding and family. He also leaves one sister, Ann Kitchen and husband Steve of New London, NC. Three brothers, James Rich and wife Diane of Charlotte, NC, Tommy Grimes and wife Beverly of Greensboro, NC and Robert Grimes and wife Jubie of Greensboro, NC. 'Pa-Pa' Pop' lived the Serenity Prayer every day of his life: 'God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.' And as you said on Saturday evening after our joyous family gathering, 'See you tomorrow or whenever.' Love your family! The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm Wednesday May 18th at Lambeth- Troxler Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the 'Van Fund' at Rankin Baptist Church.
