Obituary of James Thomas Kivett

Mr. James T. 'Jimmy' Kivett McLeansville---- Mr. James T. 'Jimmy' Kivett, 77, passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 28, 2011. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Mr. Kivett retired from Lorillard in 1995. Jimmy was an avid sports fan and loved Nascar and the Tarheels. He served in the U.S. Marines and fought in the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of Henry K. Burtner American Legion Post No. 53, having served as Past Post Commander, in addition to holding several other offices and serving on many committees. He was very active in the 40 et 8 and was past local Grand Chef de Gare du North Carolina and past National Sous Chef Chemin de Fer, and serving on various committees. Mr. Kivett was predeceased by his wife, Fay W. Kivett, his parents, T.G. and Lake Kivett, a sister, Francis Jones, and daughter Layne Neumann. Mr. Kivett is survived by his daughters, Cindy Peeples (Billy), Jeri Breedlove (Brian), both of McLeansville, Belinda Leach (Doug) of Canton, GA, son-in-law Paul Neumann of FL, brothers, F. L. Kivett, Jerry Kivett (Beverly), sister Nancy Stanley (Jim), and brother-in-law, Manley Jones, Jr., as well as, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Donations may be made to the Box Car Association c/o National 40 et 8, 777 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN., or to a charity of your choice.
