Obituary of Annie Leonard

Mrs. Annie Jean Roland Leonard, 87, of Greensboro died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Golden Living Center. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, at Lakeview Memorial Park with the Reverend George Coates officiating. Mrs. Leonard was born October 25, 1923 in Burningtown Community of Macon County, NC to William G. and Maggie Hall Roland. She was married to the late John William Leonard. She was a member of Newlyn Street United Methodist Church where she was very active. She served as church secretary, was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Fellowship Sunday School Class and a member of the American Pioneers. She retired from Southern Bell after over 37 years of service. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son William Paul Leonard, three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Leonard is survived by her daughter, Karen J. Leonard; son, John D. Leonard; sister, Margaret R. Stewart; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
