Obituary of Anderson Wilson

2 Cor. 5:8 'We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.' Rev. Grover A. Wilson, 77, of Summerfield, having received the gift of salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in March 22, 1965, entered into the presence of the Lord on October 22, 2011, after a long battle which left his body unable to sustain him in this world. Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, at Solid Rock Baptist Church, with the Reverend Charles Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Stokesdale Baptist Church in Stokesdale. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Tuesday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home. Soon after committing his life to Christ, 'Brother Grover' accepted God's call to the Gospel Ministry and began preaching in churches, homes, tents and brush-arbor meetings until he was elected Pastor of the Solid Rock Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC in 1968. There he served as a dedicated servant to God and His people until the day he was promoted into God's presence. June 26, 2011 marked forty- three years of continuous service to the church. During his ministry, Brother Grover held numerous revival meetings in local churches around the Piedmont, NC area. His personality endeared him to countless people throughout the region. He loved music, playing the harmonica and singing about his Lord. Whether on radio or in church, he was always requested to sing the songs for which he was known and could sing like no one else; such as 'I Saw The Light', 'When I Get To Heaven' and 'Lord, You're The Best Thing'. Brother Grover is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Fulton Wilson; daughter, Cindy Wilson Arnold and husband Reverend Charles Arnold; granddaughters, Christy Miller and Charity Josewitz; six great-grandchildren, (known as 'Papa Wilson') Valerie, Halona, Kaleb, Zachary, Hannah, and Madison; brothers, James (Peggy) Wilson, Larance (Betty) Wilson and Odell (Maureen) Wilson.
