Obituary of George Collier

George W. 'Sonny' Collier, Jr., 79, formerly of Greensboro, died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at CMC Northeast in Concord. He was born April 19, 1932, in Guilford County to George W. and Margaret Autry Collier. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 7th, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel, with the Reverend Derald Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Sonny was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Navy. He was a home-delivery milkman for Guilford Dairy for 12 years, and then worked as a Distributor for Little Debbie Snack Cakes at McKee Baking Company for over 30 years. He was a Master Mason with Guilford Lodge 656, a 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rite, and an Oasis Shriner with the Oriental Shrine Club, where he was a member of the Hillbilly Clan 13 Parade Unit. While residing at Badin Lake, he was a volunteer Fireman at the Badin Lake Fire Department Station 7 and became an honorary member at retirement. He was a member of Chandler's Grover United Methodist Church. Sonny is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sadie Stanley Collier; daughter, Cathy Collier Lookadoo and husband Rev. David Lookadoo of New London; son, Randall Stanley Collier, of Kernersville; grandchildren, Michael David Lookadoo and wife Haley, of Lincolnton, Raymond Stephen Collier, of Concord, and Rebecca Dianne Lookadoo, of Gastonia; three great-grandchildren, Nathan, Abigayle, and Aiden. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Burned and Cripple Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
