Obituary of Henry Modlin

Mr. Henry Romulus Modlin Jr., 87, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011, at Heartland Health & Rehab. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Tuesday prior to the service. Mr. Modlin was born in Spencer, NC on July 28, 1924 to Henry R. and Lucy H. Modlin. He served in the US Army during WWII and was the owner of Modlin's Café. He proudly served his country and his many devoted customers. Mr. Modlin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 35 years in 1989, Lala T. Modlin and a son, Hank Modlin in 1996. Those left to cherish his memory include sons, Jim Modlin, of Greensboro, Craig Modlin (Sheila), of Staley; daughters, Su M Johnson (Terry), of Greensboro, and Donna Teeter (Joe), of Gold Hill; granddaughter, Leslie Modlin; caregiver, Theresa Brooks; sisters, Kay Hill and Mimi Taylor; brother, Philip Modlin; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
