Obituary of Robert Donald

Robert Donald Lee, 94, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Tuesday December 27, 2011 Oak Terrace Health Care in Springfield, IL Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John Kale officiating.. The burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. He was born December 31, 1917 at his grandmother's home in Spencer, N.C., the son of Robert Oscar Lee and Claudine Scott Lee. Don attended N.C. State College and later followed in his father's footsteps to be a Railroad Engineer, retiring after forty years with Southern Amtrak. Don was a long time member of Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church. He and his wife Marjorie spent many happy years in Bonita Springs, FL. Don made many friends in NC and FL. Due to health problems they moved to Springfield, IL in 2009. His main hobby was square dancing. He will be remembered by his caring and loving ways. On July 1, 1989 he married Marjorie Taylor. Joining this marriage was two step daughters, Donna Sparrow and husband Jack, Dianna Hankins and husband Doug with six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Elizabeth Davis and brother James Lawrence Lee .Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth Lee and wife Mindy, Robert Donald Lee, Jr. and wife Meg. Three grandchildren Gregg, David and Heather Lee and five great grandchildren. Don enjoyed the company of several nieces and nephews.
