Obituary of Samuel Young

Mr. Samuel John Young, 95, of Greensboro, died Sunday, February 05, 2012, at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Monday, at Beth David Synagogue with Rabbi Eliezer Havivi officiating. Burial will follow in the Hebrew Cemetery. Mr. Young was born July 13, 1916 in the Bronx, NY to Jacob and Esther Yutkofsky. After serving in the US Navy as a SeaBee in WW II, he moved south to Greensboro to better serve his profession as a sales rep for ladies apparel. He was a member of the National Association of Women's Apparel Salesmen, and the Carolina/Virginia fashion exhibitors. He never met a stranger, had unbelievable recall and was given the gift of gab, a sure talent for salesmanship. He loved living in Greensboro and participating as a congregant in Beth David Synagogue since 1959. He loved travel, painting, and calligraphy. Most of all he was intensely fond of his family. Mr. Young was preceded in death by his brother Phil Young, sister Evelyn Goldberg, and son-in-law Allen Freiberg. Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ruth Brody Young; daughter, Ellen Freiberg, of Greensboro; son, Dr. Lawrence Young (Carol) of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Richard Freiberg(Michelle), of Atlanta, GA, Dr. Craig Freiberg (Dara), of Nashville, TN, Evan Young, of Delray, FL, and Traci Young, of Chattanooga, TN and great-grandsons, Elijah, Asher,and Elliot.
