Obituary of Lloyd Prontaut

Mr. Lloyd Charles Prontaut Sr., 87, husband of the late Dorothy Holt Prontaut married 61 years, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Beacon Place. A graveside service will be held 3:00 pm Friday, February 17th, at Westminster Gardens, 3601 Whitehurst Road, Greensboro, NC with the Reverend Don Clement officiating. Mr. Prontaut has been a resident of Greensboro since 1968. He was a long standing member of Centenary United Methodist Church on Friendly Avenue. Mr. Prontaut was the owner and founder of Computer Process Services of Greensboro, NC. His business consisted of computer engineering, repairs, and technical support as well as leasing computer equipment. He had a unique talent in that he could rebuild, repair, and restore almost anything. He was a Georgia Tech graduate majoring in mechanical engineering. He served as a gunners mate in the US Navy during WW II on the USS Kretchmer DE 329. He later transferred to the carrier Midway. Mr. Prontaut was born to the late Antoine Bernard Prontaut and Annie Mae Bennett Prontaut on October 20th, 1924. He was a native of Augusta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Antoine Bernard Prontaut Jr., and two sisters, Emma Louise Bryan and Dorothy Townes Weeks, all from Georgia. He was a loving and devoted father to three children, Lloyd Charles Prontaut Jr. (Terri), Susan Prontaut Groat, and Kenneth Leonard Prontaut (Cheryl); grandchildren Lloyd Charles Prontaut III (Aliyah) of High Point, Matthew Neal Prontaut (Sara Beth), of Reidsville, Richard Scott Groat, MD (Elizabeth), of San Antonio, TX, Robert Brian Groat (Demetra) of Greensboro, Christopher Lanier Groat, MD of Morgantown, WV, Lauren Groat Bulebush (Kevin), of Raleigh, Kenneth Leonard Prontaut Jr., of Reidsville, and Chereefa Jade Murphy (William), of Reidsville; seven great-grandchildren, Blakely, Madison Grace, Brooklyn, Bryce, Allison, William, and Joseph Conner, in addition many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405. The family would like to thank the many friends and caregivers that made his last days more joyous. Fond memories of Mr. Prontaut will forever be in our hearts.
