Obituary of Lois Rierson Powers

Greensboro Lois Gaulden Rierson Powers, 92, died on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Whitestone Masonic and Eastern Star Home. Lois was born in Guilford County on January 4, 1920, to George Lee and Alma Gaulden. She was married to the late, Benjaman Rierson and then later in life to the late, Fletcher Powers. Lois' funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00 am in Whitestone Masonic and Eastern Star Home's Chapel, at 700 S Holden Rd., with Pastor Tommy Jones officiating. The interment will be at 1:00 pm at Guilford Memorial Park. Lois graduated from Rankin High School and Kings Business College. She was retired from working as an office administrator at Cone Mills. She was in the Rose Chapter 178 Revolution Lodge of the Easter Star. Lois was a life long member and Sunday school teacher at Northside Baptist Church. She enjoyed her cats and working with her flowers. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; her daughter, Anita McNeill; son-in-law, Charles; Brother, Woody Gaulden and sister-in-law Minnie Gaulden. She is survived by her daughter, Gwen Gibbs; granddaughter, Laura (Curtis) Bogue from Wilborn, GA; grandson, Charles McNeill, Jr.; a devoted niece and caretaker, Linda Osborne; and a devoted great nephew, Reese Pointer. The family will receive friends at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Monday.
