Obituary of Blanch Murchison Gardner

Blanch Murchison Gardner, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital following a brief illness. Blanch was born on April 5, 1927. She was the third of six children born to Edward Matthew & Sudie Callicutt Murchison. She grew up in the Proximity mill village and graduated from Bessemer High School. Following high school she was employed for a few years, until she began her career as the best homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother she could possibly be. Blanch was a lifelong member of Eller Memorial Baptist Church where she served and supported many ministries, until her health prohibited her from doing so. Other than her faith, there was nothing more important to Blanch than her family. Those preceding her in death include her devoted husband of 62 years Fred K. Gardner, Sr.; her parents; sisters Ruth M. Gardner (J.B.) and Edna M. Jones (Howard); a brother, Coy Edward Murchison; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws. Her surviving loved ones include sons Knight Gardner (Kim) and Tim Gardner (Kathy); sister Mildred A. Murchison, and brother Jimmy W. Murchison (Jane); grandchildren Matthew K. Gardner (Melissa) and Erin G. Ussery (John). Her special joys are great grandchildren Jack Ussery, Finley Ussery, Ava Gardner, Charlie Ussery, Paige Gardner, and Ussery baby (number four, gender and name to be determined). There are also many nieces, nephews and their families who are very special to her. The family is very appreciative for all the support of church, family and friends. They would especially like to thank Dr. Richard Aronson, MD and the staff at Guilford Medical Associates for their care and attention over the past few years. Lambeth - Troxler Funeral Service is serving the family. The funeral will be held at Eller Memorial Baptist Church on Sunday, January 26 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Bruce Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be at the church immediately after the service. The family encourages contributions to Eller Memorial Baptist Church, 1111 Summit Ave. Greensboro, NC 27405.
