Obituary of Robert E. Lee

Robert E. Lee, of Matthews, NC, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 9, 2016, at Hospice of Union County, with his family by his side. He was 89 years old. Born October 22, 1927, in Greensboro, NC, Bob was the son of the late William Anderson Lee and Parrielee Adkins Lee. He served two years with the Merchant Marines during World War II, and served four years with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Bob retired in 1990 from Sears Roebuck and Company as Southeastern Regional Manager after 43 years of service. He was an avid fisherman. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Dorothy Fowler Lee, and two sisters, Irene Hobbs and Rhonda Jones. He is survived by his wife, Naomi Rhew Lee; his daughter, Courtney Swanson and husband, Brian, of Matthews; his step-son, Brian Baldwin and wife, Jeannie, of Statesville; his grandson, Matt Swanson of Matthews; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 19, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral and Cremation Service in Greensboro, with Pastor Jim Allred officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the dedicated and compassionate medical staff, RN's and CNA's at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, Dept. 5F for the excellent care provided to Bob.
