Obituary of Ronald Reed

Greensboro, NC Mr. Ronald M. Reed, 75 of Greensboro passed away Wednesday December 23, 2009 at Moses Cone Hospital. Ronald was born in Guilford County on August 30, 1934 the son of Hugh David and Nettie Letcho Reed. He was a member of Proximity United Methodist Church where he was a board member and president of Prime Time. Ronald was a US Navy Korean War Veteran and was a member of the Oriental Shrine Club where he served as a member of the Hillbilly Parade Unit. He was also past president of the Triad Shrine Club. Ronald was retired from the Greensboro Police Reserve after 25 years of service and also retired from DeSoto Chemical/Sherwin Williams as plant superintendant. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed home remodeling and traveling. He also enjoyed conversation with family and friends. Ronald was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by three sisters Ailene Glaser, Mildred Draper and Dorothy Pegram and two brothers Ray and Richard Reed. Surviving are his wife Margaret 'Marty' Reed of the home; two daughters Susan Hill of Greensboro and Connie Emory and husband Archie 'Jabbo' of Greensboro; a son Ronald David Reed and wife Wanda of Grassy Keys Florida; 8 grandchildren Angela Wood, Ashli Hill, Josh Emory and wife Kylie, Lauren Emory, Landon Emory, Jessie Emory, Stacie Wilson and husband Robby and Crystle Reed; a great grandson Garrett Wood; two brothers Marvin Reed and wife Cindy and Wayne Reed and wife Lillian; a sister Doris Green and husband Charles. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm Sunday December 27, 2009 at 2 pm in the Chapel of Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home by Revs. John Jolly and Abraham Kim. Burial with military honors and Masonic rites will be at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Proximity United Methodist Church 1200 Vine Street Greensboro, NC 27405-6916 or to the Shriners Hospital for Children 950 West Faris Road Greenville, SC 29605-4277.
