Obituary of Garnet Suttles

Mrs. Garnet Whitt Suttles, 94, of Greensboro and Raleigh, died Friday, April 9, 2010, at Greensboro Place. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at Greenhill Cemetery, with the Reverend Jerry Strader officiating. Mrs. Suttles was born July 20, 1915, to J. D. and Viola Land Whitt. She was a graduate of Bessemer High School and King's Business College and attended Woman's College (UNC-G). She was a bookkeeper, secretary at Proximity School and loved cooking, knitting, crocheting and especially spending time with her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, J. D. Jr., Darnell, and Frank Whitt, sisters, Maxine and Violet Whitt, and grandson David Bagwell. Mrs. Suttles is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Lee F. Suttles; a daughter, Nancy S. Bagwell and husband Will, of Reidsville; grandchildren, Ray Bagwell and wife Pam, of Apex, Terri Roberts, of Greensboro, and Rob Bagwell of Concord. She was also 'MawMaw' to 7 great grandchildren, Jeremy, Ben and Ashley Bagwell, Damon and Jordan Roberts, Katie and Emily Bagwell; sister, Eunice Ritter and husband J. W.; sisters-in-law Ruth Y. Whitt and Mildred P. Whitt, and many nieces and nephews.
