Obituary of Maxine Bowman

Mrs. Maxine Koontz Bowman, 83, died in Asheboro, May 10, 2010. Maxine was born in Davidson County, but lived most of her life in Greensboro. Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Douglas Koontz and Maude Leonard Koontz, and her husband of 44 years, John Wallace Bowman. Maxine attended Greensboro College before graduating from Temple University in 1946, in the Oral Hygiene Program. She became one of the first female Dental Hygienist in the state of North Carolina. She retired after over 40 years with Dr. James Henson and Dr. Tom Blackwell. While living in Greensboro, Maxine attended Irving Park United Methodist Church where she was a member before moving to Asheboro 3 years ago. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Westminster Gardens. Mrs. Bowman is survived by a brother, Corl Koontz and wife Mildred, of Lexington; Nieces and Nephews, including Gary and Tricia Koontz of Kernersville, and Benny and Susan Bowman Roberts, of Greensboro. Also surviving are her Godchildren, Robin Webster and husband Wes, of Denton, NC and Richard Moser, of Boston, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Hospice of Randolph County, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204 The family would like to thank everyone at The Randolph Cancer Center, Randolph Hospital Cardiac Rehab., Randolph Medical Associates, Home Instead, Hospice and the staff of Clapp's Mountain Top Living, for all the special care and love that was given to Maxine during her illness.
