Obituary of John Sills

Mr. John L. Sills, 82, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, at First Baptist Church Chapel, with the Reverend Steve Pressley and Reverend Ken Massey officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Sills was born July 27, 1927, in Wayne County, to John L. Sills Sr. and Gladys Avery Sills. After WWII, John graduated from Western Kentucky University. He was a Certified Public Accountant and a life member of North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. He was Secretary Treasurer for Southern Webbing Mills Inc. for over 30 years. John was a life member of the Elks Lodge and he was also a member of First Baptist Church of Greensboro, where he enjoyed being a part of the Arimathean Sunday School Class. Mr. Sills was a WWII veteran and he always showed his patriotism by hanging the flag of the United States of America and the Navy Flag outside his lovely home. John always placed family first. He was a loving husband and a wonderful father to his daughter and son. Mr. Sills is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha B. Sills, a son, John L. Sills III, both of Greensboro; brother Bill Sills, of Goldsboro. He was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter, Sandra Tara Sills McClendon, who died in 1989.
