Obituary of John Ray McBride

John Ray McBride, 75, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away peacefully Friday, May 17, 2024.

 

A native of Forsyth County, NC, John was the husband of 53 years to the late Frances Tilley McBride and the son of Johnnie Richard McBride and Mary Rella Cox McBride, both deceased. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Before the declining of his health, John loved to carp fish, make gun barrels for turkey shoots, and piddle around in his yard making it immaculate. He loved his milkshakes, coconut easter eggs, and of course his doughnuts. John loved watching "Lonesome Dove" and "How the West Was Won".

 

Survivors include his daughter, Mary McBride Crews (Jason); son, William McBride (Michelle); nine grandchildren, Christopher McBride (Megan), Robert Ballard (Samantha), Cindy Ford (Joe), Courtney Ballard, Amber McBride, Lauren McBride, Brooke McBride (Kelsie), Adam Crews, and Kendyl Crews; and eight great grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, McKinley, Jaxon, Kaylee, Keaton, Alanna, and Layton.

 

In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by his great grandson, William Jon Ballard; sisters, Nancy Lemons, and Marie Howell; and brother, Paul McBride.

 

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
