Obituary of Diane Marie Ekkert Sellars

Diane Marie (Ekkert) Sellars, age 79, of Kernersville, NC passed away in her home on Friday March 1, 2024, after a battle with dementia, amongst other things.  She was born in Lemont, IL on November 30, 1944, to Marie Augusta Langer and Donald Edward Ekkert. 

Diane was always known for her generosity towards others.  She was outspoken, yet an outstanding hard worker.  Her hobbies included a love of home decorating, gardening, reading, watching TV, and playing cards.  She was an animal lover, always had a dog, and oftentimes a cat or two as well.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, and paternal and maternal grandparents.  She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Rebecca Lee (late, David Keith), her grandsons, Nicholas (17) and Brycen (11) Lee; her brother, Kenneth Ekkert (late Barbara); sister, Tammy Pitts; nieces and nephews, including Karrie (David) Lindholm, Keith Ekkert, and Cory and Keira Pitts; and also her beloved dog Gracie, who resides in the family home.

A service in her honor will be held on Monday March 11^th at 11:00 am at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel, in Kernersville, NC, 530 Dobson St., Kernersville, NC.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, directly preceding the service. Interment will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
