Robert Bolden

Obituary of Robert Lee Bolden

Robert Lee Bolden entered eternal rest on February 13, 2024.  “Bob” or “Bobby” as he was well known by, was born on July 30, 1943 to Evelena Ford Green and William Bolden.

Bob was educated through the Jasper County school system.  During his early years, he moved to New York, the Big Apple, with his sister Mary.  Bob began taking big bites out of the Apple as he began working with Botlo Inc.  He worked with this company for many years before he took another bite of the apple and went to plumbing school.  Bob attended Bergen Vocational Technical School to obtain his plumbing license.  Bob began working with the City of Hackensack in the Department of Public Works.  He worked in this position for 22 years.  Since the plumbing license was not enough for Bob, he decided to attend seminary school in Hackensack and became ordained as a minister in 1999 to Bethel Church of God In Christ, Hackensack, NJ.  Bob also opened up his own cleaning business.  Bob retired from the City of Hackensack in 2003 and relocated to Kernersville, NC.

Bob was blessed to have a wonderful daughter, Dara Bolden-James.  Dara truly was Bob’s apple of his eyes.  He loved his baby girl.  Bob kept a radiant smile which gleamed with joy for his Dara.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30-31) Bob loved the Lord, and it showed in everything he did.  He always smiled, shared wisdom, and loved everyone he encountered.  Bob served the Lord wholeheartedly.  If you encountered Bob, you knew that he worked together for the good of God according to his purpose.

Robert leaves to mourn his daughter, Dara M. Bolden-James; two stepchildren, Michael Hammond of North Carolina, and Michelle Hammond-Dudley of New Jersey; six grandchildren, Desiree Tinsley (Roman Hilliard, Heavy Pockets), Darin, Malaki, and Mason James of Kernersville, Dejah Bogert (Gene) of New Jersey, and Elijah Johnson of New Jersey; seven great grandchildren; special friend, Sylvester McConneaughey; two sisters, Betty Bolden, and Delores Mitchell of Yemassee, SC; and a sundry of nieces, nephews, and family members (friends who have become family).

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Evelena Ford Green and William Bolden; his wife, Thelma M. Bolden; son-in-love, Ronnie Jame;, two step daughters, Monia and Diadra Bryant; and sisters, Agnes Green, Catherine Green, Mary Pickney, and Evelyn Bolden-Major.

Bob will be truly missed by his smile and good nature.  When you saw that grin, you knew that blessings were being bestowed upon you.
