Obituary of Floyd Bennett Tucker
Floyd Bennett Tucker, 98, of Greensboro, NC, passed away peacefully Friday, December 15, 2023.
A native of Greensboro, NC, Floyd was the husband of 56 years to the late Katherine Perdue Tucker and the son of Lonnie Curtis Tucker and Della Barnes Tucker, both deceased. Floyd was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was a long-time, faithful member at Unity Christian Church, Greensboro, NC. Floyd retired after serving more than 42 years from Cone Mills and then returning to work an additional eight years after his retirement.
Survivors include his two daughters, Dawn Tucker Griffin and husband, Butch, and Bonnie Tucker Plante and husband, Paul; four grandchildren, Jerry King, James King, Alana Williams and husband, Bren, and Garrett Plante; five great grandchildren, Alex King and husband, Mark, Morgan King, Michelle King, Ranger Williams, and Coulson Williams; five great-great grandchildren; one sister, Elaine Sellaro; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Floyd was preceded in death by eight siblings.
The family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Lambeth Chapel, 300 West Wendover Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27408.
Funeral services celebrating Floyd’s life will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Unity Christian Church, 3232 Yanceyville Street, Greensboro, NC 27405. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Greensboro, NC.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his beloved caregiver, Amry Simpson. Also, they would like to send a special thanks to the staff of Wesley Long Hospital and to the staff at Camden Health and Rehabilitation.
