Obituary of Christopher Allen "Chris" Reid

Christopher Allen Reid, 52, of Reno, NV, and former resident of Gibsonville, NC, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023.

Chris leaves many behind to mourn and miss him. He is survived by his wife, Karen Hicks Reid of Reno, NV; mother, Bonnie Carey Beaver and husband, Ross of Ruckersville, VA; father, Charles Reid and wife, Janet of Gibsonville, NC; son, Jarrett Reid of Boulder, CO; stepchildren, Heather Lee and husband, Brian of Reno, NV, Anthony Hicks and wife, Sarah of Reno, NV, and Jacqueline Diltz and husband, Ian of Reno, NV; grandchildren, Thomas and Belle Lee, Dakota Burke, Giana Hicks, Tierney Hicks, Brynlee Hicks, Emerly Hicks, and Liam Diltz, all of Reno, NV; siblings, Charles Reid, II and wife, Anne of Honolulu, HI, Steven Bowling of Asheville, NC, Leslie Beaver Williams and husband, Nick of Ruckersville, VA, and Shari Reid Cox of Gibsonville, NC; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him greatly.

Chris’ faith in God was vital to him and defined the man he endeavored to be. He was a past member of Horizon Church in Sparks, NV where he was active in the Men’s Ministry and Children’s Ministry. In North Carolina, Chris was a member of People’s Memorial Christian Church.

Chris’ family meant the world to him. His son and stepchildren brought him great joy, and he especially loved being a grandfather “Pap” to his eight grandchildren.

Chris was a friend to so many and never knew a stranger. To know Chris was to love him. His giving, caring heart allowed him to touch many lives and he was known for his generous spirit. Chris’ smile was legendary.

A memorial service celebrating Chris’ life will be held at 3:30PM Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the Gathering, A Christian Community located inside the Holly Hill Mall, 309 Huffman Mill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 with Rev. John Shields officiating.
