Obituary of Helen Patricia Wimbish

Helen Patricia Wimbish, 85, of Greensboro passed away on November 22, 2023 at Friends Homes at Guilford.  A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen (Crutchfield) Wimbish.

Pat's honorable career as a nurse began at Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and the University of North Carolina School of Nursing where she earned her Bachelor of Science as part of the class of 1967. During her long career as an RN, Pat worked at the VA Hospital in Durham and taught practical nursing in Raleigh. She worked as a nurse in Alaska for a year as part of an exchange program and loved talking about her adventures there. After she retired, Pat did volunteer work at Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

Pat had a very warm personality and a wry sense of humor. Throughout her life, she made lasting friendships with people of all ages and backgrounds. She looked forward to the Fall season at Holden Beach to go surf fishing when the fish were runnin'. She cherished her cat, Butter, and her two dogs, Pooch and Annie. Pat spent her last 4.5 years as a resident of Friends Homes where she will be remembered for the funny stories she shared and the generous ways she helped others.

Memorial services will be held at Friends Homes on Wednesday, November 29th at 2:00PM.
