We too are saddened for Patti's passing. It seems that the future best times of Patti and Donnie's life have been taken from them.
I remember the last wild game supper we had at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. I invited Donnie to join us at my table, he so wanted to come but Patti said doughtingly, " We"ll have to see" I knew that getting Donnie to the church would be problem since he was in a wheel chair at that time. At that Saturday night, Patti called me and said that they were on their way. Patti stayed the dinner and saw what a good time Donnie was having with the "Guys" It was tough on everyone at the table knowing how sick Donnie was and this may be his last time going out. When you get by yourself and gather your thoughts on the evening, we all have to be thankful that we had our health, but beg an answer from Jesus "Why did you pick Donnie and not me" Only Our Heavenly Father and Our Savior Jesus know because their thoughts are not our thoughts. Praise be to Our Heavenly Father and to our Savior Jesus and to our Holy Spirit tha lives within each of our hearts.

Our hearts are deeply broken as we learned of Patti´s passing. If we are fortunate, we are only blessed in this lifetime with maybe a handful of friends that create such a memorable bonded love, especially for our mighty God. Patti and I went through so many heartaches and good times together. We always held each other up in prayer and personalize reassurance that we would be there for each other... even in heaven.
She was my Sunday school teacher at one time, and I believe she missed her calling to be a preacher. My heart would always be lifted up so much by her depth of passion for Jesus.
She was one of the strongest people I know with her battle of cancer and lost love ones. Yet she had so much joy, peace, and happiness. She would do anything for you. I am sure God greeted her with "Well done my good and faithful servant."
She has fought the good fight and has won her victory now... No more pain and no more sorrow.
We dearly loved her in so many ways. I have posted a few pics of our last get-together in May.
Our sincere condolences to the family. We will miss her abundantly. We know she is with her sweet Donnie of whom she called "Precious." She has missed him terribly. Rest in Peace our very dear friend. We shall meet again.

Walt and I were saddened to learn about Patti’s passing, she and her parents, Jim and Dot were like family to us and our children. We had just moved from Illinois and the Baker’s from Florence, SC. We became immediate friends and they very lovingly provided our five children with many special experiences and treats, we were spoiled as well. Dot would sew beautiful things for our girls, and would find clever games or toys for the boys. Jim could fix anything and never minded our requests for help.
Patti was a junior in high school when she moved to Greensboro, a very difficult time to enter a new school setting without knowing a single person. Nonetheless, Patti’s sparkling personality, friendly demeanor and “ can do” attitude made her a friend to all she met, she made the varsity cheerleading squad and went on to achieve many honors. Her mom would drive her every week to dance lessons in SC and to dance contests anywhere there were competitions. The Baker’s cherished Patti and she returned that love. Patti made a great babysitter as well, she could perch the phone on her shoulder, chat and change a baby’s diaper she was holding on her lap all at the same time. Quite a gal, no doubt that competence was very helpful when she was blessed with the gift of Tricia and Steven.
The last few years, we just exchanged Christmas cards, always a note promising “to do lunch”, I regret not following through on that, the lesson I have learned from Patti’s passing, is that when you say it to a seldom seen friend, follow through on it.
Although Patti bore the pain of the loss of her parents and husband stoically, she was intrepid fighting her long term battle with cancer, never losing her beautiful smile and cheerful outlook. She will be missed.

Dear Burns Family,
I am sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. When I was in City HR working with Donnie on his retirement, she was a vital part of that process. She always wanted the best for her family. She was a sweet lady.

I’ve known Patti for over 30 years, first as my mom’s friend, then as a coworker and most recently as a neighbor. Patti’s love for the Lord, her family, friends and neighbors was unsurpassed. She always managed a smile during every conversation, even in the darkest of days. She left such a huge impact on so many lives in this world and she is now enjoying her many rewards in Heaven! My deepest condolences to all of the family! I pray that you find comfort in your memories and peace in the assurance that you will meet again in Heaven.

Trisha,Steve,Summer, and Austin: You have lost the biggest cheerleader you will ever know. She loved each of you with every breath she took. I will truly miss the joy and happiness she brought into a room. One of the last things she told me was that she wanted Summer to get some formal training for a job. I hope that's possible for you, Summer. Love all of you and will continue to pray for you.
