I knew Rusty as a fellow American Red Cross Volunteer. He was always so kind and pleasant. His great smile and upbeat energy always lit up a room. It was a pleasure to know such a wonderful soul.

Rusty was such an inspirational and encouraging presence on our Outreach and Global Mission Planning teams at West Market. He was always the most positive influence on every mission team, and as our night manager for the WE shelter he was integral to its success. But most importantly, he was my dear friend, my rock, and a constant source of support. I will miss him deeply, but I know he is now reaping the rich heavenly rewards of a life well lived.

I was honored to know Rusty as a fellow Red Cross Volunteer the past 18 years. He brought his life experiences, passion and humanity to support Red Cross clients and Red Cross team members in his role as a Disaster Responder who supported the local community but also traveled to other parts of the county to support Red Cross disaster operations over the years in leadership roles. He participated with others Red Cross departments helping each from manning phones during telethons; helping the Operations team with maintenance of vehicles; proving information to military, veterans and their families during Service to Armed Forces outreach events; or using his talents to lend support as a communicator to both the Communication team or as a community volunteer leader with the chapter. My thoughts and prayers are with the family as you celebrate his life and move forward with your memories. He was a wonderful individual with a wonderful spirit and smile.

I knew Rusty and worked with him on many projects at West Market Church. It seemed like he was always working-driving the church bus, working with the homeless, on church mission trip. He was always helping people, in one way or the other. He was always kind to me, as I believe he was to everyone. I loved him and will miss him. Dick Warren
