Obituary of Louise Norman Burch

Louise Norman Burch of Kernersville, NC passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2023.

 

Louise was born in Shelby, NC to Clara and John Norman on July 12, 1923. She would have celebrated her 100^th birthday in two days. Louise graduated from Shelby High School and on January 24, 1942, married the love of her life, James Burch. Jim and Louise moved to Forest City, NC in 1952 and together worked side by side at Royster Oil Company until Jim’s passing in 1993.

 

Louise enjoyed maintaining a beautiful lawn and had a “green thumb” for growing many lovely flowers. She was very gifted in needle work and created many beautiful and treasured afghans and baby blankets.

 

Louise was a member of First Baptist Church in Forest City, NC and loved her Love Circle Sunday School Class of which she was one of the last surviving members. She also served on the Bereavement Committee for many years. Jim and Louise were also very actively involved in the Lions Club.

 

Louise is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Johnny Watkins of Kernersville, NC; her beloved grandson, Steve Watkins (Courtney) of Independence, VA; her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and R. B. Jenkins of Gastonia, NC; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, three brothers, and many wonderful friends.

 

It is Louise’s wish that there be no funeral and that wish will be honored. Louise will be laid to rest at her husband’s side at Eternal Hills in Forest City, NC. The burial will be private.

 

For the past nine years, Louise had been a resident of Arbor Ridge Independent Living in Kernersville, NC where she enjoyed a wonderful lifestyle with many dear and precious friends.
