Obituary of Opal Mae Coleman

Opal Mae Coleman, 88, of Greensboro, North Carolina passed away June 23, 2023, Wesley Long Hospital   Greensboro, North Carolina. She was born on July 10, 1934, in Fries, Virginia to William and Lettie " Gertie" H. Waller.
Opal was a dedicated member of North Greensboro Church of God since 1984. She loved to bake for others, sewing and mending garments, and quilting. Her favorite game to play was dominoes. She was the greatest cook and also enjoyed gardening. Opal was one of the most selfless people, always giving and helping others. She had unconditional love for her family and others. A mother figure for many, she loved dedicating her time to nurturing people and helping to raise them to be the best they could.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Nancy Greeson, brothers, Archie Clifford Waller and William "Buddy" Waller.

Opal is survived by her loving husband of 72 years; Clyde Coleman, of the home, son, Rodney Coleman (Ellen); grandchildren, Terri Cook (Wes) and Candy Summerlin; great grandchildren, Austin Kestner, Christian Summerlin, Wesley Cook and J. T. Cook, one great -great granddaughter, Leia Kestner and a host of other family and friends.Many thanks to her niece, Kathy Brooks for all the wonderful care, companionship, and joy that she brought to her. She has been like a second daughter for many years.  

The family will receive friends at Pierce Jefferson Funeral Service, Lambeth Chapel on Wednesday, June 28,2023 from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be at Pierce- Jefferson Funeral Service, Lambeth Chapel on Wednesday, June 28,2023 at 11am with Dr. Bill Coble and Genna Coble, officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be sent to Men and Women of Action at North Greensboro Church of God, 3605 Summit Ave. Greensboro NC 27405. Services are entrusted to Pierce- Jefferson Funeral Service, Lambeth Chapel 300 W. Wendover Ave. Greensboro, NC 27401.
