Obituary of Joseph "Kent" Needham
Joseph “Kent” Needham, born November 3, 1957 of Kernersville, NC, went home to be with his Savior on Sunday, February 19, 2023. Kent peacefully entered the presence of God surrounded by his family who loved him so dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Needham. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Liz Needham; three children, Austin Needham (Kristin), Ashley Gatewood (Jonathan), and Daniel Needham; his father, Joseph Needham and brother, Barry Needham (Rita). Kent is also survived by his four grandchildren, Payton, Layla, Mady, and Solomon; as well as his nieces and nephews, Brandon, Tyler, Cody, Lauren, Brook, Tyler, a great nephew and four great nieces.
Kent chose to fight the battle of multiple cancers for over two years. He courageously endured rigorous treatments in order to have more time with those he loved most. Kent finished well, resting in the finished work of Christ leaving us an example of faith, grace, and ultimate healing.
He is already greatly missed by all those who knew him. His sense of humor, unmistakable laugh, quick wit, and constant presence gave each person a memory to cherish. They await the day they will be reunited with him in Heaven.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Two Cities Church, Winston-Salem, NC with Reverends David Vogel, Jordan Taylor, and Austin Needham officiating. The family will greet friends between 12:00PM – 1:45PM prior to the service. Interment will follow after the service at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.” – 2 Corinthians 4:16-17
