Obituary of Alice Bernice Jones Demkowski

Alice Bernice Jones Demkowski, 64, of Greensboro, NC was called home by way of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by her family on Friday, February 11, 2022. 

A native of Newport News, VA, Alice was the daughter of the late Charles Luther Jones, Sr. and Mary Jones Barger. Alice graduated with the Class of 1975 from Walter M. Williams High School, Burlington, NC and attended Roanoke Bible College, Elizabeth City, NC where she learned American Sign Language, which became her life’s passion. She was a devoted Christian and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and daughter. Alice had a very kind heart who welcomed everyone and was a second mom to many. 

Survivors include her son, Stephen Demkowski and wife, Maegan of Greensboro, NC; daughters, Tricia Demkowski Eshleman and husband, Dave of Raleigh, NC, and Rebekah Katlin Demkowski of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren, Emma Demkowski, Taylor Fulk, Landon Eshleman, Max Eshleman, and Lyla Eshleman; and two brothers, Kennie Jones and wife, Linda, and Bill Jones all of Poquoson, VA. 

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charlie Jones, and Randy Jones. 

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00PM Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Lambeth Chapel, Greensboro, NC with Steve Dailey officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.  Inurnment will follow the memorial service at the Union Ridge Church Cemetery, Burlington, NC.
