Obituary of Marie Louise Smith

Marie Louise Paska Smith went home peacefully to our Lord, early Sunday morning on January 30, 2022. She was 93 years young.

She was born May 13, 1928 in Wausau, Wisconsin to parents Edward J. and Louise M. Paska and had one brother Gene, who is with our Lord.

She was raised Catholic and attended High School at St. Raphels High School and loved attending Mass. After graduation she worked as a secretary at a bank, and that is where she met the love of her life Robert W. Smith. They were married on September 4, 1948. They were together for 66 years, until dad's passing on December 17, 2014. Mom was a wonderful homemaker, which she loved, and did all she could to provide for all of us and raising 4 children.

Surviving children, Thomas and wife Lori, and Richard, and Barbara and husband Eddie, and Greg. And also 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mom and Dad loved to travel and visited many beautiful countries and took several fun cruises. Mom loved to dance, especially to the older tunes of Frank Sinatra and many others.  I would have to say Englebert Humperdinck was her absolute favorite.

After many places she lived between Wisconsin, Florida and North Carolina, she finally resided at Heritage Greens Independent living in Greensboro, NC for nearly 7 years. She was always so active there, dancing, walking, going on trips, joked, and joining in on almost all the fun activities they offered. She was told she was a Spitfire.

She will be so greatly missed by all her children, family, and many friends.

A funeral mass to celebrate Marie's life will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church at 2203 W. Market St., Greensboro, NC 27403.
