Charles Parks

Obituary of Charles Langfitt "Chuck" Parks

Chuck’s love of life won’t come to an end with his passing. His legacy will live on as his family and friends choose to live with joy each day. Charles Langfitt Parks, 77, of Kernersville, NC, went to be with Jesus after a courageous, four-year fight with Pancreatic Cancer on December 30, 2021, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, NC surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 12, 1944 in Colorado Springs, CO. After graduating with a BA in Zoology from Ohio Wesleyan and later completing an MBA from CW Post College (LIU) in New York, he began his career in finance which included working for Equitable Life and Morgan Stanley in NYC. He was married May 21, 1977 in East Hampton, New York to D. Gail Taylor. In their 44 years of marriage, they raised their children, loved working around their home and traveling to sunny destinations. In addition to his 20 years of life on Wall Street, he and Gail relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina to raise their family and continue his work in finance as a Financial Advisor at ACH Investment Group, Inc. He loved watching the ticker tape and analyzing the markets, even after his retirement two years ago. Personally, his family was his greatest achievement. He was always so proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching college football on the weekends and was a lifelong West Virginia Mountaineers fan. He always looked forward to traveling to St. John, USVI. His favorite color was that of the tropical waters. He served as a greeter, wishing others a “good morning” and sharing a smile, at The Summit Church.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Seigle Wilson and Eleanor Hastings Park; and his sister, Eleanor Parks Gaunder (Robert). He is survived by his loving wife, D. Gail Parks; children, Heather Parks Gaudio (Dante), Jennifer Parks Cooper (Todd), and Ryan Hastings Parks (Kate); grandchildren, Isabella, Andre, Ava, Emma, and Samuel; and sister, Margaret Ann Parks.

Chuck’s Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 11:00AM at The Summit Church, 4440 High Point Road, Kernersville, NC. The family will be receiving guests prior to the service beginning at 10:00AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to pancan.org, a leading pancreatic cancer charity. With your donation, PanCan will be able to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer by advancing scientific research, building community, sharing knowledge, and advocating for patients. Chuck was passionate about bringing awareness to Pancreatic Cancer in hopes of finding a cure.

The family requests to be mindful of the COVID pandemic and follow current guidelines.
