I knew Jack from the Adoration Chapel. I had been going there for 8 plus years and Jack would come in from 11 PM to 12 AM, which was the shift after mine. He had already been going to the Chapel I believe for 14 years prior to when I started. He is probably the nicest person I have met in my life. We would talk for a few minutes every Tuesday night before I would leave. He was always an upbeat mode and so nice and caring. I met his wife a few times over the years and Mary was also a very warm and special person.
He always asked about my family and I would hear about his grandkids in Boston and South Carolina and his family in NJ.
When the Chapel was closed due to COVID I felt lost on Tuesday nights. I really feel bad, I had wanted to call Jack to ask how he was doing. I once texted his phone. I figured maybe he didn't have a phone that could display text messages and I never did get around to calling him. I will miss his warm and gracious demeanor. I don't know when the chapel will reopen because it is inside a nursing home, but it will truly feel different without Jack being there. It is hard for me to imagine going to the chapel and not seeing Jack there. I know he is in a much better place. But I am sure we all wish he was still here with us.

I worked with Jack at Culp for many years. He was a great mentor and teacher for me as a young designer. We had the opportunity to travel together on many occasions from Mississippi to New York. He was a great lunch partner and a great listener. Wise in life and business. I learned so much from him through a difficult time of textile decline. My favorite expression on his face was when he was given that red Porsche. God speed my cubicle neighbor. Phillip Holeman

I'm Jayne Clark of Culp and first met Jack when I was hired with Culp 20-years ago at the Design Center -Anthony Rd Burlington NC. Jack was a friend and inspiration to all that met him...Such and intriguing man with many stories, always uplifting, just a true joy to be around...He always spoke of his family, wife Mary, and the kids and grand-kids so lovingly and fondly. Jack was one of those people you thought would live forever. Well, we all know that isn't true and I was so saddened to hear that he had passed, but your (our) memories of him will live on. What a wonderful loving family. Sincerely, jayne

I’m so sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort help you during this difficult time.
(2Corinthians 1:3,4 & Psalms 83:18). Jesus taught us to pray for God’s Kingdom to come because He knew it would intervene to solve all mankind’s problems even sickness and death. (Revelation 21:3-5 & Daniel 2:44).

I was blessed to meet Jack while volunteering at Greensboro Urban Ministry and will cherish many fine memories of our time serving together. Jack could always be counted on for a smile and an encouraging word. Little did I know that with the changes at Greensboro Urban Ministry necessitated by COVID 19 the last lunches we served together were back in early March. Jack will surely be missed by all who were fortunate enough. to have known him.
