Obituary of Dewey Hendrix

Kernersville-Dewey Gerald Hendrix, 78, went home to be with his Lord April 8, 2015. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Friday April 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Dr. Stephen Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Morris Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Walkertown. Gerald also known as “Jake”, was the son of the late Jettie Lee Kirk and Dewey Franklin Hendrix. Gerald spent his entire life in Kernersville and was a graduate of Kernersville High School Class of “54. He was retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after 35 years of service. He served in the US Army National Guard Reserves from 1959 until 1965. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and served in several other capacities at the church. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Wilma Neal Hendrix of the home; daughter Ashley Catlett and Miles of Mocksville; son Neal Hendrix and Kristen of Charlotte; grandchildren Anna Catlett, Daniel Catlett, Jack Hendrix, and Ella Haze Hendrix. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm Thursday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers contributions are asked to be made to First Baptist Church or the charity of one’s choice. Service Information
