Biography
KERNERSVILLE ~ Lucy Travis Tucker, 86, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, December 2, 2011.
Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2011 at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church in Colfax with Pastor Sam White and Rev. Phil Kirkman officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.
A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Bessie Ballard and Joseph Travis. She was a longtime member of Shady Grove Wesleyan Church. She also was a member of the Kerners Korners Square Dance Club. She was retired from the Department of Social Security Administration.
In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her two sisters, and three brothers.
Survivors include her loving husband of 26 years, Dan M. Tucker of the home; daughter Elaine G. Landman and Wayne of California; sons Doug Galloway and Jane, and Brad Galloway and Janie all of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Joe Galloway; step-sons Ron Tucker and Jane of Winston-Salem, and Skip Tucker and Debbie of Colfax; brother Ray Travis and Edith of Asheville; four grandsons and four granddaughters.
The family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home.
