Obituary of Ronnie Davis

Biography Kernersville-Ronnie Earl Davis, Sr., 64, went home to be with his Lord, as he was surrounded by his family, March 3, 2012. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 7:00PM Tuesday March 6, 2012 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Keith Lee officiating. Graveside Services will be held 11:00AM Thursday March 8, 2012 at Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange, NC. A native of Kinston, Ronnie was the son of Helen Louise Tyndall and Joseph Hyrum Davis and both survive. He graduated from North Lenoir High School in 1966 and later attended Brigham Young University. He worked for Southern Bell in Raleigh, NC in 1968. He then joined the US Air Force the next year and was stationed at Incerlik Air Base in Adana, Turkey. He later was transferred to Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, Louisiana where he received the award for Distinguished Assistance to the 2nd Bomb Wing. After his discharge he immediately returned to his position with Southern Bell in Goldsboro, NC. While in Goldsboro he attained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Leo College. In 1979, he was promoted and was transferred to Greensboro, and later Winston-Salem, where he retired in 2003 after 33 years of service. A loving husband, father, and grandfather Ronnie loved spending time with his family. He taught his grandchildren to fish and how to paint on canvas. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Kernersville Ward. He served as the Scout Master of Troop 122, loved to camp with the Scouts, see them grow in life, and particularly seeing them advance to Eagle Scout. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years Denise Hardy Davis of the home; daughters Maria Davis Haymore and husband Shane of Newland, NC, and Michelle Davis Lewis and her husband David of Kernersville; son Ronnie Earl Davis, Jr. and his wife Gaby of Kernersville; grandchildren Jacob Bradley Morphonios, Joseph Hyrum Morphonios, Sarah Ellen Morphonios, Rebekah Ava Haymore, Wesley Harrison Lewis, and Madeline Jane Haymore; parents Louise and Joseph Davis of Deep Run, NC; brother Charles Davis and his wife Bonnie of Utah; sisters Wanda Davis Orr and her husband Randy, and Peggy Davis Johnson all of Deep Run, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service on Tuesday at the funeral home in Kernersville, and from 9:30AM until time for the service on Thursday at Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange, NC.
