Obituary of David Atkins

Colfax-David Simeon Atkins, 67, died March 29, 2012 at his home. A Memorial Service to remember David will be held at a later date. A native of Guilford County, David was the son of the late Annie Mae Stanley and Durward Lloyd Atkins. David was self-employed as a painter, had worked with Calvin Parrish, was a mechanic, and more than anything truly was known as a “Jack of all Trades”. He was a character and if you ever met him, you didn’t forget him. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by brothers Stanley Atkins, Gene Atkins, Tommy Atkins, and Paul Atkins. Survivors include his daughter Janee Hicks Lawson of Belews Creek; sister Marie Parrish and Larry of Colfax, Patty Sue Coates and Larry of Chatham, Virginia, and Barbara Ann Allen and Hunt of Rock Hill, South Carolina; brothers Herb Atkins, Sr. of Kernersville and D.L. Atkins of Colfax; grandchildren Davin Keith, Kayleigh Trout, and Meghan Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
