Obituary of Courtney Nixon

Walkertown-Courtney Lane Nixon, 19, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. She was born August 18, 1992 to William Fred Nixon, Jr. and Donna Edwards (Nixon). She attended Forbush Elementary School, East Forsyth and North Davidson High Schools, as well as Forsyth Technical Community College. Courtney loved to travel, spending summers at St. Simons Island Beach, Georgia and Billings, Montana which she found to be beautiful. She loved her animals Marley, Puddy, Buck, and Lil Man. She was preceded in death by her sister Allison Meredith Bradley and her paternal grandfather William F. Nixon, Sr. Survivors include her mother Donna Elizabeth Edwards and her maternal grandmother Jo S. Edwards both of St. Simons Island, GA, maternal grandfather Wade L. Edwards of Winston-Salem, and uncle Gary Edwards of Wake Forest, NC, as well as many maternal cousins who loved her dearly; Her father William F. “Bill” Nixon, Jr. and step-mother Myra B. Nixon of Winston-Salem, aunt Polly Helms and Rick of Kannapolis, uncle Greg Nixon of Winston-Salem, cousin Marie Bailey and Aaron of Gatlinburg, TN, step-brother Sean A. Bazemore, step-grandmother Brenda Buxton Dunlevy of Pinehurst, step-uncles Byron and Hunter Buxton, step-aunt Hope Buxton, paternal cousins Ryan, Carson, Maggie, Nate, and a very special “PawPaw” Ken Holdaway of West Jefferson. The family will visit with friends in the Reflections Room at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home in Kernersville from 1-3pm Sunday afternoon April 15, 2012 and a service to celebrate her life will follow immediately after the visitation.
